Evidence for gas chambers

Some people claim people were executed with zyklon B in gas chambers during world war 2 and others deny it.  I am not making either claim.  That is I claim to not know for the following reasons.

I do not speak and read German from that time period fluently or at all as of the year 2022.  I have not read all the documents and probably have read less than 0.01% of the more than 3000 tons of documents and in English or English translation only.  Much of the evidence has been destroyed.  And one sides point of view is censored therefore I can not get a perspective from more than one side before evaluation.

I can not say the viewpoint permitted by Israel and Germany is correct without also hearing the alternative viewpoints which result in imprisonment for being said in Israel and Germany.  This forbidden viewpoint is also purged from the internet in the United States because online social media corporations that reach an audience in the United States are trying to also reach a German audience without being sued by Germany and therefore censor United States citizens in order to abide by German laws.  As is explained in the links listed in this link

Section the demolition of the gas chambers

The first crematorium and gas chamber, and the two “bunkers,” were withdrawn from use in 1943, when the four large crematoria and gas chambers in Birkenau went into operation.

The gas chamber in crematorium I in the Auschwitz main camp was used for the last time in December 1942, although the crematorium furnaces there functioned until July 1943.

The crematorium I building was adapted as an air-raid shelter in 1944. The first provisional gas chamber, bunker 1, was demolished in 1943, while the second, returned to operational use in the spring of 1944, was demolished in the fall of 1944.

As part of the overall liquidation of the evidence of crime, crematoria II and II together with their gas chambers were partially dismantled in late 1944, and blown up in January 1945. Crematorium IV was partially burned during the Sonderkommando mutiny on October 7, 1944, and later dismantled. Crematorium V functioned until the very end, and was blown up on January 26, 1945, the day before the liberation of the camp.

Originally used as a pesticide, historians say Zyklon-B was the poison of choice for death in the gas chambers (Pressac 16). After the Jews were crowded into the gas chambers the gases would be released and cause a slow asphyxiation (Brugioni & Poirier 20).

Deniers claim that Zyklon-B was used at Auschwitz and other extermination camps, not as a means of killing Jews but as an insecticide (Rudolf 59). They claim that it was vital in attempting to maintain hygiene that mattresses be deloused (Rudolf 59). Not only were mattresses deloused but the supposed gas chambers were actually disinfestation rooms where the Jews would be exposed to non-lethal doses of the gas (Rudolf 59).

If you execute a fat person their body does not become skinny instead it becomes a rotting fat body.  The pictures of corpses I have seen are always skinny.  This does not disprove execution by gas chambers but those people would soon die of starvation instead if not executed by gas chambers.  If one person throws someone off a roof from a fatal height and someone else shoots and kills them before they reach the ground does that mean the person who threw them off the roof did not kill them?  If there were gas chambers the British air force who bombed the food supply routes started to kill them before they were executed by the Germans in the gas chambers in the same way that someone who throws someone off a roof would have started to kill someone before the person who shot them while falling did.

The deniers’ feel that the Nazis were extremely thorough. They had pictures from every checkpoint along the road of the Jewish peoples’ suffering. “No photographs exist showing anything resembling such a group-gassing procedure” (Kollerstrom). The claim is that there are a multitude of photos showing groups of people piling into “gas chambers”. There are vast amounts of photos showing piles of dead bodies on the other side of the “gas chambers”, but none show the recently suffocated bodies inside the gas chambers ready to be cremated (Kollerstrom).

The reason it is so easy for them to doubt the gas chambers function and existence is that there are no photographs or videos of them actually playing the role in the Holocaust that historians claim they did. This allows the deniers to pick apart the account of the gas chambers, with little evidence to contradict them.

The Holy See announced on 2 December 1940 that the policy was contrary to the natural and positive Divine law and that "the direct killing of an innocent person because of mental or physical defects is not allowed" but the declaration was not upheld by some Catholic authorities in Germany.
