Mainstream Judaism is uniquely different than most forms of Islam and Christianity in that people are labeled born Jews by their ancestry and also it is extremely difficult to join if you do not have Jewish ancestry. In mainstream Judaism and in the State of Israel gentiles or non Jews are treated different than Jews in such a way that it is a tenet of the mainstream Jewish religion and the state of Israel to treat people differently based on ancestry because someone who does not have Jewish ancestry may be forbidden from joining the "official" mainstream Jewish religion to escape such discrimination at the whim of the Jewish courts but those with Jewish ancestry can practice polytheism or atheism or Christianity or Islam and be accepted and recognized by Israel and mainstream Jews as Jewish and given special treatment.
