Lich
The phylactery contains a hidden (programming) script that you are not allowed to read this is the program the golem is supposed to obey. If people found the script and read it they would see how evil it was and the lich could be physically defeated when their script is spiritually exposed so they hide their phylactery and try to kill anyone who is trying to find it in their dungeon lair.
